Not another corporate SaaS story.
Built by a tournament organizer, referee leader, and software developer who got tired of spreadsheet hell — and had the skills to fix it.
I've led the basketball referee community for three years.
Treasurer, mentor, tournament organizer, and association webmaster. I know the spreadsheets because I wrote them. I know the 11pm text chains because I started them.
Last season I organized a 120-game tournament. Coordinating refs, mentors, and teams at 11pm through spreadsheets and group chats. It worked — but it was chaos.
As association webmaster I built our club portal from scratch: member management, professional email (Graph API), file sharing, calendar integration, full access logs. It shipped, people use it, and it works.
But assignment management? That's still broken. Existing platforms are clunky, manual workflows masquerading as automation, and the payment flows look like they were designed in 2008. I've got a Computer Science degree and a day job building real software. So I'm fixing it.
"I'm building Synced Sport because I've lived the problem as a tournament organizer and ref leader. The current tools weren't built for us — they were built for someone else and sold to us. This is both a real business opportunity and a personal mission. We deserve better tools, and I'm committed to building them."
From ref leader to platform builder.
Five years of doing the work that led here.
Started in referee leadership
Began as a mentor and executive member for community basketball referees — managing operations, building relationships, learning the industry from the inside.
Organized a 120-game tournament
Coordinated referees, mentors, and teams across a major tournament. Learned firsthand how broken the existing assignment tools really are.
Built the CBOA officials portal
As webmaster for the Calgary Basketball Officials Association, shipped a full management system at cboa.ca/portal: email, file sharing, member management, access logs. Still in production, still used. (A separate project — not Synced Sport.)
Started building Synced Sport
Shifted focus to the assignment platform the industry actually needs. Not another CRM. The tool tournament organizers and ref leaders have been asking for.
Launching
Private beta Q2 2026. Public launch Q3 2026. Early adopters get founding-member pricing and direct input on the roadmap.
Build the assignment platform every assignor wishes they had.
Give assignors their weekends back. Make scheduling so simple it feels like magic. And prove that software built by the people who use it ends up better than software sold to them.
Most platforms get built by people who don't actually do the work.
This one is built by someone who organizes tournaments, manages refs, and ships production code. Four disciplines, one founder.
Tournament operations
120-game tournaments with referee assignments, mentor coordination, and multi-venue team scheduling. Not in theory — in gyms, on weekends, at 11pm.
Full-stack development
Computer Science degree + professional dev experience. Production systems with React, Supabase, and modern APIs. I ship things.
Community leadership
Treasurer for community refs, association webmaster, mentor to officials. Embedded in the community the platform serves.
Referee operations
Years coordinating referee assignments for large tournaments. First-hand experience with the challenges assignors face every weekend.
I don't just talk. I shipped.
Before Synced Sport, I built and run the officials portal for my local association. It's a separate product, on a separate stack — but it's the proof I can deliver.
CBOA Officials Portal
cboa.ca/portal · live in production · used weekly by the association
"I've learned from building similar tools. My focus is on solving the real challenges assignors face every day."
Help shape what we're building.
Synced Sport launches Q2 2026. I'm looking for assignors, leagues, and ref leaders who are tired of the status quo and want to help shape what comes next. If that's you, let's talk.
